We advise, convene and deliver.
WHAT WE DO
Business Academy Africa is the implementing partner for governments, development partners, institutions and businesses creating sustainable economic prosperity in Africa.
Most reform fails at implementation, whether in policy, programmes or training. We work in that gap. We know how government works, how businesses decide and how communities respond, and we design and execute every assignment around that knowledge.
Advocacy
We make the case for Africa where decisions are made.
Evidence-based advocacy on the issues that decide whether businesses start, grow and survive: access to finance, trade, regulation, taxation, skills and digital policy. We build the evidence, frame the argument for the audience that has to act on it, and carry it into the rooms where policy is set.
What we deliver
Policy positions, briefs and position papers
Advocacy strategy and campaign design
High-level dialogues, side events and ministerial engagements
Coalition building with the private sector, associations and civil society
Who it is for
Development partners, business associations, chambers, foundations, ecosystem networks
Stakeholder engagement
We bring the right people into the room and get them to take the right action.
Public and private sector convenings, consultations, roundtables, working groups and coalition building that turn agreement into action. We map who holds influence, design the process so every voice counts, and follow through so commitments made in the room are kept outside it.
What we deliver
Stakeholder mapping and engagement strategy
Consultations, validation workshops and roundtables
Multi-stakeholder working groups and co-creation processes
Subnational engagement across states and local governments
Who it is for
Governments, development partners, regional bodies, corporates entering new markets
Policy, trade and business environment reform
Reforms that work for the businesses they are meant to serve.
We help governments, regional bodies and institutions design, test and implement reforms. Regulatory diagnostics, policy design, trade facilitation, reform roadmaps, implementation support and monitoring, grounded in how African businesses actually operate.

Institutional training
Training that changes how the institution works the next month.

How we work
Built around your business needs.
Step 01
Diagnose
We start with the problem as the people affected see it: the policy gap, the institutional bottleneck, the market failure.
Step 02
Convene
We bring together the people who can fix it, and the people who will have to live with the fix.
Step 03
Deliver
We design and run the work to plan and to budget, with clear roles and a named lead.
Step 04
Document
We record what was done and what changed, so the result can be reported, defended and repeated.

FAQS
Common questions about working together
Learn more about our process, approach, and how we support ambitious organizations through growth and change.
Why are you called an Academy if you also deliver policy work and projects?
Because learning is how every piece of our work lasts. Whether we are supporting a reform, running a programme or training an institution, the aim is to leave people more capable than we found them. The Academy is the learning engine behind our Services and Programmes, and it is also open to anyone who wants to learn directly.
Who do you work with?
Ministries, departments and agencies; state governments; regional bodies; development partners and foundations; corporates; chambers and business associations; and the founders, women entrepreneurs and skilled workers who take part in our programmes and courses.
Where do you work?
We are based in Nigeria, in Lagos and Abuja, and our work and our team’s experience reach across Africa with local implementing partners. We deliver in person and online, so location is rarely a barrier.
Can we engage BAA for services without joining a programme?
Yes. Our Services stand on their own. Governments, development partners, institutions and businesses engage us directly for advocacy, stakeholder engagement, policy, trade and business environment reform, documentation and reporting, institutional training and project execution.
Can you document and report on a programme or event that another organisation is delivering?
Yes. Documentation and Reporting is a standalone service. We capture the data, the moments and the results from inception to close, and turn them into reports and impact stories that meet funder requirements.
Can you help our organisation set up operations in Nigeria?
Yes. Through Project Execution we support business setup and operational deployment in Nigeria, including registration, tax, premises, staffing and systems, for international organisations and companies entering the market.
How do I join a programme?
Choose a programme on the Programmes page and click Apply. Cohorts and intakes open at set times during the year; join our newsletter to be told when applications open.
Do programmes cost money?
It depends on the programme and the cohort. Some places are fully funded by our partners, and others carry a fee.
I am not in Nigeria. Can I join a programme?
Several programmes include virtual sessions and resources open to participants across Africa. Each programme page states where it runs and who is eligible.
Do I need to be in a programme to take an Academy course?
No. Anyone can take an Academy course or buy templates. Programme participants simply get Academy content as part of their programme.
How can I work with BAA as a facilitator, trainer or consultant?
